Giving questions

What kind of fund should I set up?

You may choose to start up a fund in your own name, or contribute to an existing fund that matches your philanthropic goals. Placer Community Foundation can help you choose a gift that is right for you.

After we understand your specific charitable interests, how involved you would like to be with ongoing disbursements from your fund, and the concerns or needs of you and your family, we can recommend the most appropriate type of fund.

What will the fund be called?

Depending on what category of fund you establish, you might name the fund after yourself, your family, your business, or someone you would like to honor or remember. Donors sometimes select a name which indicates the kinds of projects they would like to support or a specific organization or program that would benefit from the fund.

When would I make the initial gift?

You may do so at any time during your life or through a will or trust arrangement that benefits both your family and your charitable interests. Tax deductions are earned at the time of the gift. Note: While funds may be built in increments, the minimum balance for charitable distributions to begin is $10,000 ($25,000 for scholarship funds).

How do I give?

We can help you (and your professional advisor) evaluate the most beneficial giving option. We can accept a wide variety of assets and facilitate complex forms of giving.
