Youth supporting youthPlacer County youth have a lot to offer—fresh ideas, good questions, and a genuine desire to give back. In return, Placer Community Foundation offers youth a great experience in philanthropy through the Grant Advisory Board for Youth (GABY), which launched in October 2007 through the Placer County Peer Court. GABY gives youth opportunities to make a positive difference in the community, both by serving on the Board and by recommending funding for youth-led projects. Get involvedThe GABY program is actively looking for youth between the ages of 12-19 to serve on the Board. Students interested in gaining leadership experience, learning more about funding programs and giving back to the community are encouraged to apply. Application informationApplication deadline is September 30, 2008. Make a differenceApply for a grant of up to $2,500 from GABY to support a special community project in Placer County. Proposals must be planned and carried out by youth and demonstrate potential to make a positive impact on the community. Application informationApplication deadline is October 24, 2008.
