Free Storytelling Workshop for Placer Nonprofits

Release Date: 14-Oct-2010

The Placer Community Foundation in partnership with First Five Placer and the City of Roseville, is offering Placer County nonprofits a free workshop on creating and sharing compelling stories in order to build greater awareness of the public services these groups provide our community everyday.

Storytelling as Best Practice with Andy Goodman will be held on November 16, 2010. This half-day workshop provides nonprofits hands-on training for crafting, writing and telling powerful stories, which can then be shared with their constituencies and stakeholders.

Andy Goodman is a nationally recognized author, speaker and consultant in the field of public interest communications. Along with Storytelling as Best Practice, he is the author of Why Bad Presentations Happen to Good Causes. He has been invited to speak at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Affairs at Princeton, and at major foundation and nonprofit conferences. In 2007, he was selected by Al Gore to train 1,000 people who are currently conducting presentations on global warming throughout the U.S. and around the world.

Nonprofits who register on or before November 2 will receive an email from Andy Goodman with a short assignment due November 9. With this assignment, Andy will customize the session to better support participants in writing their story. Each participant will walk away from this workshop with a powerful story to share.

To participate in this unique opportunity, Placer County nonprofit organizations should visit the Workshops and Events page of the Placer Community Foundation's website (placercf.org) and download the registration form.
