Local Advisors Honored for Encouraging Philanthropy

Release Date: 09-Sep-2009

Nearly 50 people attended an event hosted by Justice Keith F. Sparks (ret.) and the Board of Directors at Placer Community Foundation. The event honored professional advisors (estate planning attorneys, CPA’s and financial advisors) who work with their clients to encourage charitable giving locally.

During the reception Foundation board members spoke of Placer county’s current community needs, citing that with funding cuts made to basic need programs such as food banks and homeless shelters (and now the recent fire in Auburn), calls and requests for support are at an all time high. They commended advisors for introducing charitable giving in conversations with their clients and stressed that now more than ever, local giving makes a real difference.

“Professional advisors play a significant role in the growth of philanthropy and we are pleased to honor these individuals for their commitment to community,” noted Sparks.

Over the past years, professional advisors have worked with clients to:

  • Establish funds that benefit specific nonprofit organizations
  • Establish scholarship funds that carry on a family legacy of giving and ensure opportunities for youth in our community
  • Include future generations as advisors in charitable giving
  • Benefit specific areas in Placer (Auburn, Roseville, Loomis, Lincoln) as well as fields of interest (arts, environment, animals, health)

Set in the PlacerArts’ gallery in Auburn, attendees enjoyed Placer Grown appetizers prepared by Café Zorro in Loomis and wines poured by Carpe Vino in Auburn.
