The Placer Community Foundation recently awarded six grants totaling $19,000 to community arts organizations. Grants were awarded to: Auburn Community Concert Association, Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center’s State Theatre, Magic Circle Theatre, Placer Community Theater, Placer Theatre Ballet and for Sierra College Foundation’s Chamber Music Alive series.
With support from the James Irvine Foundation, the Placer Community Foundation established an Arts Initiative to assist local nonprofit arts organizations in building their audiences through a variety of marketing strategies. The Placer Community Foundation believes the arts add depth and richness to a community and enhance this county’s quality of life. By granting these funds, the Community Foundation supports organizations with limited marketing budgets to raise awareness of art-related events.
One of the grant recipients, the Placer Community Theater, will be among the first performing arts group to present their production of Mid-Life, the Crisis Musical in the newly renovated historical State Theater in Auburn. To draw audiences to this special event, the group plans to hold a Grand Opening red carpet affair on opening night, and will jointly market with other nonprofit arts organizations to bring in new audiences.
"Mid-Life! The Crisis Musical is an entertaining theatrical production that we feel the community will thoroughly enjoy,” said Brenda Lindley, board member for Placer Community Theater. “We are grateful for the opportunity to explore innovative audience development strategies with this production.”
