Placer Community Foundation’s Board of Directors recently presented Placer Land Trust with a technical assistance grant in the amount of $5,000 while touring a land conservation project. Funds will support a comprehensive communications plan to promote the Land Trust’s efforts to protect the 2,300-acre Bruin Ranch on the Bear River. This grant is among others awarded to local nonprofit organizations through the Community Foundation’s Technical Assistance Program (TAP). Designed to help Placer County nonprofits strengthen and enhance their business model, TAP grants fund infrastructure needs such as long-term planning, financial assessment, and board development. “Protecting our open space, caring for our companion animals, teaching tolerance and inclusiveness among our youth and providing quality education—these are the causes supported through this year’s TAP program,” stated Placer Community Foundation’s Chairman Jeff Birkholz. “Our Board of Directors is proud to support capacity building among our nonprofits but we also know that greater local philanthropy is needed to adequately address these and other community needs.”
