Placer Community Foundation designed the Nonprofit Technical Assistance Program to help local nonprofit organizations thrive and grow. Targeted to nonprofits serving residents along the western slope of Placer County, grants help organizations deliver higher quality, more sustainable, more valuable community services.
Administered by Placer Community Foundation and Sacramento’s Nonprofit Resource Center, TAP helps organizations assess progress, develop people, plan growth, and manage operations more effectively.
For five years Placer Community Foundation's TAP Program offered funding for a consultant to work with a nonprofit organization to address an area of its business model. This included focus areas such as strategic and fundraising planning, human resources, accounting, program evaluation and most frequently, board development. In 2010 the Community Foundation's Board of Directors sought ways to maximize TAP by addressing current needs affecting nonprofit organizations of all sizes. We surveyed the nonprofit sector and received guidance from a steering committee comprised of nonprofit executives and volunteer board members. The result was development of a comprehensive Nonprofit Leadership Summit.
In 2012 the Technical Assistance Program is offering the Nonprofit Leadership Summit free of charge to nonprofit organizations operating along the western slope of Placer County. In addition to honoring the leaders who volunteer their time on boards of directors, the full-day event will address best practices in governance, exploring trends, fundamental principles, and an array of techniques that worked to engage every board member as an effective player in the organization’s fundraising team.
