Everyone is aware of how much teens need support and opportunities to learn, contribute, lead and develop life skills, and relate to others. Too often we hear bad news about the challenges of teens. Yet research reveals that teens (those wonderful, smart, creative, bring-on-the-world people ages 14-21) receive the least financial support. In general, philanthropic, government and nonprofit spending directed at teens is far below what is invested in children ages 0-13.
Placer Community Foundation awards competitive grants to address the needs of youth ages 14-21. There will be one funding round annually. The average grant award is expected to be $3,000-$5,000; any single award will not exceed $5,000.
This funding opportunity is made possible by a grant from The James Irvine Foundation and a giving circle of donors at the Placer Community Foundation.
Projects must serve economically disadvantaged, underserved youth ages 14-21 who reside on the western slope of Placer County.

The application process for the 2011-2012 Youth Development grant program is closed. It is anticipated that applications may be submitted again in the summer of 2012. Please refer to this page at the start of June 2012 for more information. Grants will be awarded up to a maximum of $5,000.
