In September 2024, Placer Food Bank announced that it had rebranded to Feeding the Foothills, a new name that reflects its enduring commitment to uplifting the communities of El Dorado, Nevada, and Placer counties.
While the organization’s name has evolved, its mission remains steadfast: to provide vital food resources and support to those in need, transforming lives one meal at a time. Feeding the Foothills (formerly Placer Food Bank) sights are set for the next 50 years and beyond to nourish families experiencing food insecurity and educate the community about hunger, while advocating for hunger relief.
As one of only 200 Feeding America food banks in the nation, and the only food bank with that designation north of the San Francisco Bay Area, Feeding the Foothills continues to be driven by the belief that no one in our community should go hungry. With compassion, hope, and a deep-rooted connection to the region, the organization has long been a cornerstone of hunger relief, and this rebrand reaffirms its dedication to fostering stronger, more resilient communities.
In December 2020, the Placer Food Bank Endowment Fund (now Feeding the Foothills Endowment Fund) was established. Wells Fargo, a long-standing valued corporate partner, gave $30,000 seed money to invest in the critical work to support the future of the organization.
More than 55,000 people in El Dorado, Nevada, and Placer counties they serve do not know where their next meal will come from and more than 13,000 are children. Over 30% of the area seniors report having to choose between food and paying for medicine or medical care. In FY 23-24, 11.3M pounds of food was distributed serving 1.1M individuals, providing 15.3M meals have been served through FTF’s 80+ hunger-relief partners.
