Placer Community Foundation commissioned a study to assess the impact our local nonprofits have in our community. The goal was to illuminate the economic and social contributions the sector provides our county, the affect the pandemic had on their operations and why public and private dollars to support their operations is critical to their work. Some takeaways from the report include:
• Nonprofits are an economic driver in our county – Placer County nonprofits (excluding health care systems) report more than $1.4 billion in annual income • Nonprofits of smaller size do more with less by relying heavily on volunteers for labor – there are 76,183 total volunteers in the sector, ranging in age from 15 to 84 • Nonprofits in Placer County reported a staggering $18 million loss in fundraising revenue due to COVID-19
